The heartland project is a collective tree-planting movement in Indonesia initiated by an Indigenous Dayak youth organization, Ranu Welum Foundation. We engaged numerous Indigenous communities, schools, and youth organizations around Indonesia to join hands in the restoration effort. 
We believe that youth have the power to make a change. Therefore, we use the heartland project as a platform for young people to speak up about environmental issues in their community, such as forest fires, and share a positive influent on others. Tree planting and river clean up movement lead by Indigenous youth in Tamiang Layang, Central Kalimantan. We empowered local campion to organize a restoration movement in their community.

We hope that this program can foster children’s love for the peatland ecosystem. Tree-planting movement led by Indigenous Dayak in Gunung Karasik Village in East Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan. The villager planted trees along the road of the abandoned former coal mining side to protect their community from dust pollution.
