Baruch Mena

Baruch Aguilar Mena, born in 1998 in Mexico City, relocated to Sisal, Yucatán, at the age of 18. In this small fishing village, he pursued a degree in Sustainable Coastal Zone Management at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). From the outset of his academic journey, Baruch concentrated on coastal ecosystem conservation, culminating in a two-year research internship focused on fisheries evaluation and management, which became the foundation of his thesis. During this period, he also co-founded a collective dedicated to restoring coastal dunes.
Baruch has built a robust career in research and leadership roles within restoration and conservation projects, employing a socio-ecosystemic approach. His expertise includes community pedagogy, organizational culture, integrated coastal management, and photogrammetry applied to restoration. These diverse skills equip him to protect and preserve vital coastal ecosystems effectively.
