The preparation of the Dumagat-Remontado youth as the next leaders of their communities goes through a process of understanding the importance of land and forests. It is essential to understand why the land is alive—and here, naturally, the commitment to serve the ancestral land is embraced.
UGBON is an indigenous youth-led organization established to better prepare the youth to defend their ancestral land by promoting culture, protecting native trees, and upholding the beliefs in Makidepet, the creator. And through all of this, initiatives such as mountain restoration for protecting our ancestral domain will emerge and continue.
