Football for a Greener Future
The NaPO Conservation Cup is an annual football tournament by Nature and People as One (NaPO) that aims to empower youth to restore their landscapes through through football. The tournament combines sportsmanship and environmental conservation by requiring participating teams to undertake landscape restoration in designated areas across the Mt Marsabit Forest landscape.

The 2023 inaugural edition brought together 16 teams who have planted 1463 indigenous tree seedlings. and are managing 7 sites through NaPO’s Ramat model which is based on farmer managed natural regeneration (FMNR) and involves the systematic regrowth and management of trees and shrubs from felled tree stumps, sprouting root systems or seeds.
Teams are expected to take care of the trees planted in the previous year in order to qualify for the next edition of the tournament.
The tournament was supported by the GEF Small Grants Programme, Global Landscapes Forum ,Kenya Forest Service , Kenya Water Towers Agency, Lenaa Birds Conservation
